Ivory Tower vs. The Solomon Amendment

The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has found the Solomon Amendment unconstitutional. For those who don’t know the background, the Solomon Amendment basically tells universities, “If you take Federal money, you have to let military recruiters and ROTC on your campus.”

I hope the Bush Administration appeals this decision. Funny, in a way. The Left in this country is always in high-warble about the civilian-military cultural divide where the predominately Southern and Western military has such different views than the culture AS DEFINED by the elites.

The hypocrisy of the Left here is just dumbfounding. They want a more “balanced” military, but won’t let the military recruit in the fertile Lefty grounds of the Ivy League and other Ivory Tower bastions of the Moonbat Left.

You can read the whole thing
here, but the summary is the same.

The Left hates the U.S. Military. They will let all the pro-Islamofascist and anti-Israel
speakers in the world through their Politically Correct gates, but representatives of those that guarantee their ability to live in their glass house? VERBOTEN!!!

Keeping an Eye on the Long Game: Part IV

My bust, I should have been posting on this for the last few weeks, but couldn’t. Anyway, looks like our targets, errrr, friends at the PLAN have been doing a little Out-of-Area OPS as of late with their bucket-of-FOD Han SSN.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope they build scores of
these buckets, but the PLAN has better boats on the way. Job security, but remember the PLAN mindset: long-term growth. They are stretching and learning.

Good to get the pro’s at the JMSDF a workout. They need the practice; the PLAN will be out there more and more often. We are living in very interesting times.

Here is why. Peter Brookes at the NYPost
knocks the ball out of the park.

Oil, and rising living standards. This crisis will come first, then the
demographic challenge. (Hat tip to The Corner).

Captain Speicher, shipmate, I Hope it’s You: Time to Take You Home

It looks like we may have found Captain Scott Speicher.

I was but a pup Ensign onsta a few hundred miles away when then LCDR Speicher was lost. Throughout my career, mostly when the stories came out in the mid-90’s over the Clinton Administration not wanting to “go hunting over old bones”, as the shameful Chairman

General Shalikashvili
said. A man of much honor, Admiral Stan Arthur, had a plan to get him. But as we saw many times in the ‘90’s, our lions were being led by donkeys.

My prayers are with Captain Speicher’s family, friends, and loved ones. May his body be brought home, and his soul rest in peace.

UPDATE: Well, my bust. That is what I get for trusting my hometown news source. The Navy states this story is FOD. Too bad. Whoever made this up should be beaten, and those that passed on the rumor................
